Achill is located on the west coast of County Mayo, on Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way, and is accessible by road via a bridge at Achill Sound. Achill is a four hour drive from Dublin and from Shannon airport, or five to six hours from Belfast.

For international visitors, Ireland West Airport Knock provides excellent access and is a 75 minute drive from Achill. This fast-growing regional airport offers flights to and from numerous UK destinations including: London Gatwick, London Luton, London Stansted, Bristol, Birmingham, East Midlands, Liverpool, Manchester and Edinburgh.
Rail services from Irish Rail are available from Dublin to Westport or Castlebar, while a daily bus service (Bus Éireann service 450) connects Achill to Westport up to five times a day. Achill is also well served by the Local Link bus service, see TFI LOcal Link Mayo.
